‘Exhilarating ending for two consecutive days’ LG swept against Samsung → 4 consecutive wins… Samsung lost 4 consecutive losses.

LG swept 3 consecutive matches with Samsung and ran 4 consecutive wins. Samsung fell into a 4-game losing streak. 

LG won a 3-2 victory over Samsung in the 2023 KBO League held at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on the 9th. Following the previous day, he continued his 4-game winning streak with two consecutive victories. 

In the bottom of the 10th inning, with the score tied 2-2메이저놀이터, LG’s lead batter Park Hae-min reached base with an infield hit to second base against Samsung’s right pitcher Lee Seung-hyun. Hong Chang-ki then sacrificed bunts. Moon Seong-joo hit a heavy hit at 1st and 2nd base and became 1st and 3rd base. When Kim Hyun-soo grounded the first baseman, the runner on third base was tagged out.

Samsung took the lead in the first inning. Kim Ji-chan’s quick feet stood out. After one out, Kim Ji-chan went on base with a heavy hit. After two outs, first base runner Kim Ji-chan stopped stealing, and Kang Min-ho’s hit missed the shortstop and became a hit to left-center. Kim Ji-chan ran around the second and third bases and ran all the way to home. He passed the home plate earlier than the relay play of center fielder-shortstop-catcher. 

In the second inning, Samsung’s lead batter Kim Tae-goon reached base with a hit to the left center, and Kim Seong-yoon made the first and second bases safe with a bunt hit to the first baseman. Lee Jae-hyun’s sacrifice bunt made it 1 out, 2nd and 3rd base, and Koo Ja-wook’s infield hit next to the first baseman made it 2-0. In the continued 1st, 1st and 3rd base chances, Kim Ji-chan tried a surprise bunt toward 1st base, but as the batted ball floated, the 1st baseman was out of the ball. Pirella couldn’t score an extra run with a fly ball to second baseman. 

LG chased twice. Leading batter Moon Bo-kyung went on base with a surprise bunt hit on the third base side. Then, Kim Min-seong picked a walk and went on base. Seo Kun-chang’s sacrifice bunt led to a chance for 1 out, 2nd and 3rd base, and Park Dong-won picked a walk and scored the bases full. Jung Joo-hyun’s center fielder sacrifice fly made it 2-1. 

In LG, Hyun-soo Kim hit the second baseman grounder in the 3rd inning with 1 company and 1st base, and in the 4th inning, 1 company and 1st base, the chance was canceled by Seo Geon-chang with the 1st baseman grounder. In the 5th inning, lead hitter Park Dong-won got on base due to an error by the opponent’s third baseman, and took a chance to run 1st and 2nd. Hong Chang-ki grounded second baseman and Moon Seong-joo grounded third baseman. 

Samsung missed the chance to run away in the 6th inning. Leading batter Kang Min-ho hit to the left, and after a run, Lee Won-seok hit to the right to create a scoring opportunity for 1st and 2nd base. Kim Tae-gun’s shortstop grounder ended the inning with a double hit that led from second base to first base. 

For LG, lead batter Kim Hyun-soo got to base with a right-handed hit in the 6th inning, and Moon Bo-gyeong made the 1st and 2nd bases safe with an infield hit by the 3rd baseman. The third baseman’s throw to first base was skewed to the side. In Kim Min-seong’s at-bat, a run-and-hit strategy came out in the first pitch. Kim Min-seong made a miss on the outside breaking ball, but as the ball bounced, catcher Kim Tae-goon could not catch it properly, and the runner advanced to second and third base. In the 1st out, 2nd and 3rd bases, Kim Min-seong’s shortstop grounder hit the home runner on 3rd base, making the score 2-2.  

After one out in the 7th inning, Lee Jae-Hyun got on base with a double on the left line. Goo Ja-wook’s hit in front of the left fielder led to first and third base. Kim Ji-chan took a walk against the changed pitcher, Ham Deok-joo, and created a chance with bases loaded. LG replaced the pitcher again with Kim Jin-seong. Pirella turned around with a looking strikeout on a forkball by Kim Jin-seong on a full count. Kang Min-ho was out due to a floating ball in right field and could not break the balance of 2-2. 

In the 8th inning, LG’s lead batter Moon Seong-joo went on base with a left-handed hit, and Kim Hyun-soo picked a walk. Moon Bo-kyung’s sacrifice bunt led to a chance for 1st out, 2nd and 3rd base. Kim Min-seong was out with an infield fly to second baseman.

LG appointed a pinch hitter, Austin, at Seo Geon-chang at bat. The third base runner dug home during the second base check ball, but was tagged out in the relay between the pitcher, shortstop, and catcher.
