먹튀검증K League 1 Gangwon FC’s marketing business income in the first half of the year has improved significantly from last year.
Gangwon announced on July 7, “Marketing income (admission tickets, season tickets, merchandise sales, sponsors, etc.) in the first half of this year increased by about 1.8 billion won compared to the previous season.”
“The biggest growth was in season tickets,” said Kangwon, “about 10,000 season tickets were sold in Gangneung alone, and a total of 11,366 tickets were sold, an increase of 1288% year-on-year. The number of paid spectators also increased by 151%, showing a remarkable growth rate and promise for the future. Combined season ticket sales and gate receipts totaled nearly 1 billion won.”
In March, Gangwon set a record for the most MD merchandise sales in the club’s history at its home opener against Chuncheon. Since then, the team has continued to launch new MD products, quickly restock popular products, and take various initiatives to generate income of more than 230 million won (up 138% year-on-year). In addition, additional income was generated in the F&B sector at home games through collaborations with food trucks and potato fields.
We also earned a lot of money from sponsorships, including advertising and marketing in 18 cities and counties in the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, thanks in part to our continuous communication with local governments. These efforts resulted in an increase in advertising income of about 700 million won compared to the previous year. The youth academy program, which was launched last year, now has more than 230 members, with hobby classes, futsal classes, and women’s classes. Although we lost money in the first year, we expect to turn a profit this year through efficient membership management and plan to attract more members by opening a U-12 player class in the future.
In addition to marketing income, other income has also added a significant amount. After not receiving the transfer fee for Lim Chae-min, who moved to Shenzhen FC last year, Kangwon fought tirelessly to get it back, including filing a lawsuit with the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
The transfer fee of more than 1.5 billion won was added to the marketing income, bringing in more than 3.3 billion won in the first half of the year. Based on this, the team will focus on strengthening the squad and aim for a rebound in the second half.
Meanwhile, Gangwon moved to Gangneung Sports Complex as they entered the second half of the league. To welcome the ‘Gangneung Era’ in earnest, the team plans to organize various events for each home game to actively attract fans and strengthen marketing income through strategic marketing activities.
