Kia Tigers manager Kim Jong-kook was pleased with the rebound performance of “big pitcher” Yang Hyun-jong. Kim believes the pitcher took the pressure off himself to perform well.
On September 1,온라인바카라 Yang Hyun-jong started against the SSG Landers in Munhak and pitched seven innings of two-hit ball, striking out three and walking one in the team’s 10-2 victory.
After giving up an infield single in the top of the first inning, Yang retired the side without allowing a run. After striking out three straight batters in the second and third innings, he induced Kim Kang-min to ground out to third base with runners on first and second in the bottom of the fourth to prevent another run from scoring.

Yang Hyun-jong retired the side in order in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings with two consecutive strikeouts. In the bottom of the seventh inning, he struck out three straight batters to earn a quality start. On the day, Yang threw seven innings, 98 pitches, two hits, three walks, one strikeout, and no runs.
With the win, Yang earned his seventh win of the season and 164th career start. He surpassed Song Jin-woo (163) to become the KBO’s all-time leader in career starts.
Manager Kim Jong-kook spoke to the media ahead of Game 2 and said, “(Yang) Hyun-jong stood out yesterday with his precise command. His ball movement was the best I’ve seen in a while, and the most important thing is that he was mentally relaxed. I could see that he took a little bit of pressure off me to play well. Yesterday, Hyun Jong-i was the same Hyun Jong-i, and his stable pitching will be a big help in the absence of Sanchez in the future.”
KIA will send Yoon Young-cheol to the mound for game two, looking for their seventh straight win. Park Chan-ho (shortstop), Kim Do-young (third base), Na Sung-beom (right field), Choi Hyung-woo (designated hitter), Socrates (left field), Kim Sun-bin (second base), Hwang Dae-in (first base), Han Jun-soo (catcher), and Choi Won-joon (center field) will face SSG starter Moon Seung-won.
“In his last start (against Moon), (Yoon) Young-cheol was conscious of the Rookie of the Year competition and kept pushing hard, so I think he’ll pitch well if he’s less concerned about that. Today, we will decide when to replace Young-Cheol based on the situation.”
Kim also explained the reasoning behind the team’s batting lineup. Instead of Lee Woo-seong, Byun Woo-hyuk, and Kim Tae-gun, who started the previous day, Choi Won-joon, Hwang Dae-in, and Han Jun-soo were in the starting lineup.
Coach Kim said, “(Han) Joon-soo had good chemistry with (Yoon) Young-chul, and (Kim) Tae-gun’s physical condition was taken into consideration, as well as Joon-soo’s sense of playing. (Choi) Won-joon and (Hwang) Dae-in are also in the starting lineup, but those two spots are still spots where you can’t say there are starters. If they play well, they’ll stay in, but there are other players who could get a chance.”
