Yang Hyun-jong retired the side in order in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings with two consecutive strikeouts. In the bottom of the seventh inning, he struck out three straight batters to earn a quality start. On the day, Yang threw seven innings, 98 pitches, two hits, three walks, one strikeout, and no runs.

With the win, Yang earned his seventh win of the season and 164th career start. He surpassed Song Jin-woo (163) to become the KBO’s all-time leader in career starts.

Manager Kim Jong-kook spoke to the media ahead of Game 2 and said, “(Yang) Hyun-jong stood out yesterday with his precise command. His ball movement was the best I’ve seen in a while, and the most important thing is that he was mentally relaxed. I could see that he took a little bit of pressure off me to play well.
