The joy of ‘returning to my parents’ is released again in a month… KBO Reverse Export Giant, Will It End Like This?

Darin Ruff (37), a former member of the Samsung Lions in the KBO League and continuing to play an active part in the major leagues, was released after a month of returning to his parental home. Another crisis came to his big league career.

The San Francisco Giants먹튀검증 called up third base prospect Casey Schmidt on the 10th (hereinafter Korean time) and transferred the first baseman and outfield rough (DFA). The rough was cleaned up to make room for Schmidt.

Ruff, who was completely released six days after Yang was designated by the New York Mets on March 28, signed a minor league contract with San Francisco on the 9th of last month. He made a comeback with his home team, where he played for two and a half years before being traded in early August of last year.

Ruff, who announced his return to San Francisco after receiving a call-up to the big leagues four days after the contract, had a batting average of 2.61 (6 hits in 23 at-bats) in 9 games, no home run, 3 RBIs, 4 walks, 9 strikeouts, and an OPS of .718, which was not bad. . However, on the 25th of last month, he was placed on the injured list due to right wrist inflammation.

Starting in the last 3 days, he played 5 games for the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats, but received a DFA notice instead of a big league call-up. Ruff, who is waiting for release again after a month of returning to his home team, can be transferred to the minor leagues or become a free agent again if there is no team he wants during the waiver period.

After debuting in 2012, he played for the Philadelphia Phillies for 5 years until 2016, but rough, which was not as big as expected, signed a contract with Samsung in 2017 and came to Korea. Until 2019, he played an active part in 404 games in the KBO League for 3 years, with a batting average of 3 1/2, 86 homers, 350 RBIs, and an OPS of .968. He demonstrated his decisiveness with the most RBIs in the league for three years, including being ranked first in RBIs in 2017.

Ruff, who returned to the United States in 2020, was called up to the big leagues after signing a minor contract with San Francisco, and in 2021, he leaped to become a key player and played an active role with a batting average of 2.77, 16 homers, 43 RBIs, and an OPS of .904 in 117 games. Prior to the start of the season in March of last year, he also signed a multi-year contract worth $6.25 million for two years. He was one of the KBO League’s major league reverse foreign players, along with Merrill Kelly (Arizona), Chris Flexen (Seattle), and Brooks Reilly (Mets).

However, at the end of May last year, he struggled amidst the pain of his father, and after being traded to the Mets in early August, he completely collapsed. With the Mets, he bottomed out with a batting average of 1.5, 2.0, no home runs, 7 RBIs, and an OPS of .413 in 28 games. This year, he continued to be sluggish due to a wrist injury in the demonstration game, and the Mets released the rough while making up for the remaining annual salary.

Ruff, who had been suffering from intense fire from the New York media and fans, was delighted to receive an unexpected call from his home team, San Francisco, after being released. In an interview with ‘The Athletic’ on the 12th of last month, Ruff said, “I’m happy to be back in San Francisco. There is no better and more comfortable place for me. It’s nice to be able to be with the people I love,” he said.

But the joy was short-lived. After a month of returning to his parents’ home, he is forced to be released again, and the ordeal continues.
