Seven LIV golfers secured the right to participate in the US Open, a major men’s golf tournament this year.
On the 10th (Korean time), the United States Golf Association (USGA) announced the qualifications for this year’s US Open, which are different from last year, adding four qualifications.
It allowed the National Collegiate Sports (NCAA) individual champion and Latin American amateur champion to compete. Accordingly, NAAC champion Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira (Argentina) and last year’s Conferri Tour money winner Justin Seo (USA) will enjoy the joy of participating in the US Open.
The 2022 American Professional Golf (PGA) Tour Korn Ferry Tour points 1st place and the top 5 players in the PGA Tour FedEx Cup rankings on May 22 will also receive tickets to participate. In addition, the top two in last year’s DP World Tour point rankings and the first place in points by May 22 will be given the right to participate.
However, as the regional qualifiers have been revived, the prize money winners of the previous seasons of the Asia, Australia and South Africa tours will no longer be given the right to participate. Kim Joo-hyung (21) got a chance to participate in the US Open last year as the Asian Tour prize money champion, but this opportunity will disappear from this year. 먹튀검증
There was no change to exclude Saudi Arabia-sponsored LIV golf players. Currently, on the USGA website, the US Open winners of the past 10 years, Bryson Dishambeau, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson (above USA), Martin Kaymer (Germany), Phil Mickelson (USA 2021 PGA Championship winner), Cameron Smith (Australia Di Seven players, including Open Championship winner) and Joaquin Niemann (Chile, 2022 Tour Championship), are listed as participating players.
Also, if a LIV golf player wins the Masters in April and the PGA Championship in May, or is ranked within the top 60 in the world rankings on May 22 or June 12, he can participate in the US Open. However, it is not clear if any more LIV golf players will be able to participate in the US Open, besides the seven, as LIV golf tournaments do not award world ranking points.
Meanwhile, this year’s US Open will be held at the Los Angeles Country Club in California, USA for four days from June 16th to 19th.
